Under the Influence?
It has been said that when you're under the influence of alcohol, the alcohol starts doing your thinking for you. What is meant by that? Are any of you tempted to use alcohol? Why or why not?
When alcohol is consumed in great proportions, it can act like an uncontrolable second mind. For most adults there comes that big 2-1 birthday that makes one want to go above the safe limit and experiment. When one is said to be drunk, the alcohol alters the mind and literally acts for it. When people wake up from a hard night out, half the time they have no idea what even happened. There mind is wiped out from the alcohol. All actions were its work but looked at in your hands. The body acts in ways one cannot control when alcohol is raising through their blood. Ways that would not be liked happening in most lives. I have never been tempted to use alcohol. At this time in my life, first off, it is illegal. With the ways my years have been prospering I wouldn't want to ruin it with being arrested. Everything in my life would just turn upside down and it would be hard to turn it right side up again. I know that most teens seem to turn to alcohol when they need to relieve stress or look at their life in a different, somehow optimistic way. I feel that it is necessary to distract the mind in times of troubles but not to the ludicrous point that could ruin one's life, social life, and educational future. Instead I, on one hand, would turn to a hobby. In my case a sport but it could also be reading, playing music, or drawing. When all is summed together, alcohol should not be used at a young age. When the legal age has come, the privilege to drink should not be taken for granted. Would you want to be of no control of your body? If not, THINK BEFORE YOU DRINK! ~Lauren Brown
Some children may not even know what alcohol is, or what it can do to you. To me alcohol is a substance that can change your personality and out look. If you saw an adult drinking alcohol and they started to act weird, would you want to try to taste it? It is wrote in the media that over twenty million adults in the United States abuse alcohol, and more then half of them had started when they were fourteen or before. People all over may believe that it is cool to try it, to stay with the group. For example one thirteen year old girl was watching her friends drinking alcohol one night, trying to convince her too. Of course since they were her only friends she had decided to just go with it. Before everyone knew it she was addicted to it. Just like smoking, you may do it just because your friends are. Your parents may of said this expression before."Would you jump off a bridge if your friends said too?" That's a retarded question to anyone, but there are so many children that would say yes. Alot of children may not know the consequences of alcohol, its different then smoking. For alcohol it would seem like you have no brain, acting weird, making decisions that you don't even know about. When certain people ask you a question, it wouldn't be your brain talking it will be the alcohol. It's like a war in your brain between tiny men of red alcohol and other men defending you brain, so far the alcohol are winning. Drinking alcohol I believe is stupid to try especially if you know the consequences of it. Even if someone had asked me to taste alcohol I wouldn't. If my mom asked me to taste a small portion of her cup I would turn away. I do know what would happen if you tasted alcohol. At any second you could be addicted to it, even if you try a little, like smoking. Why would you want to act crazy and possibly die earlier. In the news today it is told that each year over ten thousand young adults (children) in the United States are killed, and forty thousand are injured in alcohol related. Any day you could be addicted to it and be one of those people to die. No, I am not tempted to use alcohol any day because I don't want to be addicted to it, and be one of those to be pulled over by the police and try to walk a straight line. Alcohol isn't something smart to try to do and even young children know do it, if you were asked to taste it, would you?
No matter what age you are, and is under the influence of alcohol, you don't have your own opinion or choice. The alcohol will overcome you and make you sucumb to its power. On the outside alcohol just looks like any other bottle but once it hits your bloodstream it works its "magic" and will make you regret it for a long time or maybe even forever. It will mess up your brain and you can get into pretty deep stuff and you won't even know you did until the next morning. I will be honest I have had a bottle of alcohol, and I did not like it at all. As the saying goes "curiosity killed the cat" though I was not killed (gratefully) I felt like crap the next day. I drank it because I told my mom I was curious on what it tastes like, and later on I majorly regretted it. Alcohol is especially not made for KIDS OUR AGE! -Katie M.
Dear Mr.G and Mrs.Campeau, I read this book three times and still love it. I strongly recommend to read By the time you read this, I'll be dead by Julie Anne Peters. The first time I read it, I cried. The second time I read it I cried even more. The third time, I think you know what happened. It's a short read and brutally honest and life changing. Before I read this I thought my life sucked but a little content. After I read it I thought my life was the best. The novel made me think of staying fat for sarah byrnes because so many emotional lessons can be learned from that book. If you do decide to read the book, I hope you enjoy. Sincerly, Katie M. P.S- you dont have to post this on the blog its just a personal letter.
When that question says the alcohol does your thinking for you it's say that you loose control of your true self. if you are drinkimg when your not supposed to be it can take many things from you. If you drink under age you could loose your train of thought because I gues you loose what control you have. Underage drinking can destroy your life because drinking could lead to drugs and it could also bring you to danger. It's your dission to drink underage but if you drink when you are young you will probly do bad things and get in trouble all the time. drinking can screw up your life, so if you are underage and someone gives you a drink with alcohol I hope you make the right choice.
I feel like if theres a rule agenst it... it makes people want to do it even more. it seems like once you get to high school your handede a beer. its up to you to take it or no. vaughn butler
If you are around me and you are doing drugs and drinking... I better have a 25 to 25 perimeter. Beacuse If you are anywhere near me I will possible attack you. I can't stand it when someone screws up their own life and then tries to pin it all on you. That's just not how life work. So... if you have any common sence stay far away from me... or else. Angel:(
Today alcohol can control people. When we learn all this about drugs, why do we try it? Then afterwards drugs can control your mind, yes. If you avoid it there's no getting addicted or even the posibility of achol abuse. More than 60% of todays population (over 18) have experinced drug abuse. I will never do drugs, but I can't speak for everyone. Somtimes friends will tempt you, but its one thing if you're doing this with all the warnings, its another if your trying to make someone follow in your foot steps.
